Mid-Atlantic Stocking is a live fish delivery and pond supply company founded in 2008 and based in Candor, New York. Over 17 years and hundreds of thousands of fish delivered, we have grown from a one-man operation into a six-route delivery service covering 10 states: Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia. We supply black crappie, bluegill sunfish, channel catfish, fathead minnows, grass carp, koi, largemouth bass, rainbow trout, walleye, and yellow perch to private pond owners, farms, recreational properties, lakes, and homeowners associations throughout the region. Aerators, fountains, floating docks, and pond care products are also available and ship nationwide.

Our Story

Mid-Atlantic Stocking was founded by Alex Weisz in 2008 after he noticed a gap in the market: pond owners across the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast had no easy, reliable way to find and order live fish online. A Cornell University graduate in Natural Resources and a Johns Hopkins alumnus with a Master’s degree in Environmental Management, Alex brought a genuine understanding of aquatic ecosystems to an industry that had been largely underserved online. To test the idea, he posted a simple ad on Craigslist — and the response was immediate and overwhelming. That early demand confirmed there was a real need, and Alex built a website and launched a delivery route to meet it.

In those early years, Alex ran the entire operation himself — driving every delivery route, managing the website, processing orders, and answering every customer call. What started as a single route serving two states steadily expanded as word spread and the customer base grew. By 2019, demand had outpaced what one person could handle, and Alex began hiring drivers and building the experienced team that powers Mid-Atlantic Stocking today.

Seventeen years later, the company operates six regional delivery routes, has fulfilled tens of thousands of orders, and has delivered hundreds of thousands of fish across 10 states. Mid-Atlantic Stocking remains family-owned and operated — with the same focus on responsive, personal service that started with that first Craigslist post.
